From a former soap star to a professional fighter, below we hear from women who have been trying to change the perception of OnlyFans by making cash on there without selling sex
OnlyFans is often perceived as a seedy porn site – but in recent years famous actors, musicians and professional athletes have joined to make money.
And while many creators give the adult subscription site an X-rated reputation by selling sex, it's not the case for everybody.
Below, we hear from some women who have been judged for being on the site by people who wrongly assume they advertise nudes.

They have all been vilified for being associated with OnlyFans – and some have even been criticised by blokes who demand they “get naked” on there.
This is the case for former Hollyoaks actress Sarah Jayne Dunn whose TV role contract was terminated in 2021.
The 41-year-old refused to delete her OnlyFans page after her bosses asked her to, resulting in the acrimonious split.
She then had the last laugh and reportedly earned an estimated £700,000 in just one year from selling exclusive images on her page.
But some of her subscribers have tried and failed to pressurise her into getting her kit off.
She told the Sunday People: “The platform is known for explicit content so when people first heard I was on it, they were shocked.
“I was even like that. Even though my content isn’t like that, you’ll get messages from people trying it on.
“If there’s anything I’m uncomfortable with, I don’t respond or tell them I don’t do dirty talk. Nine out of 10 times, they’re super respectful.”
But one model whose comments have not been as respectful is Page 3 girl Apollonia Llewellyn.
This is despite Apollonia, known online as Barbi, warning potential subscribers in her bio: “Model & Fashion Influencer NON nude content!”
The 23-year-old told Daily Star: “Luckily I have a good fan base but I do get the odd comment saying ‘what a waste of money’ or ‘get your t*ts out’ and ‘where is the porn’ and rude things like that.
“I don’t entice them to the page and then give them nothing either.”
The Yorkshire lass also said she was reluctant to even join the website because of its seedy image.
She added: “I was with a friend a couple of years ago who did OnlyFans and I was so against it because it had so much stigma around it.
“She said she only sells fashion pictures there and she was telling me about a friend who only did makeup tutorials and she was showing me a different side to it.
“If I tell someone I do OnlyFans straight away they think I do porn. I have to explain myself to everyone beforehand. There is still that stigma around it everyday.”
Another person who has experienced this stigma is controversial social media star Carla Bellucci – whose own son begged her to quit OnlyFans.
She recently respected his wishes by scrapping her account, despite never posting X-rated material.
At the time, the 41-year-old told us: “It breaks my heart in some ways and it makes me feel crap but I don’t post porn on there.
“Jayden [her son] said to me yesterday that the site is related to porn and he knows I don’t do that but he’s a really smart kid and he knows about the stigma.
“That’s why he wants me off it. He recently said ‘mum, if you want to get into the Big Brother house you need to come off OnlyFans.”
The Hertfordshire-based mum, branded "Britain’s most hated woman" after blagging a NHS nose job, said trolls called her a “slag” for being on there – even though she only sold glamour shots.
Meanwhile, pro MMA fighter Alice Ardelean uses the platform to fund her professional fighting career.
Like the other women mentioned, she doesn’t share anything explicit but felt compelled to tell her parents before signing up.
Speaking with us, the 30-year-old, who is from Romania but fights out of Birmingham, said: “With OnlyFans I told them before I started.
“I said I was going to do this, I need the money, it’s no big deal. I don’t do porn, you need to be talented to do porn.
“But they don’t have no problem, They are pretty open minded but also traditional.”
And responding to criticism, she added: “Obviously I get a lot of hate because they say ‘where is your dignity’ but dignity does not pay bills.
“Where is the dignity in working 8-5 all your life until you die? Where is the dignity in that? But some people are just close minded.”
